“This man was a genius.” You certainly know his name! But do you know the story of his life? The true story? Showtime has unveiled a first official trailer for a documentary film titled Bitchin’: The Sound and the Fury of Rick Jamesby award-winning filmmaker Sacha Jenkins. Bitchin: The Sound and the Fury of Rick James is an intimate yet propulsive look at Rick James, one of rock, funk and R&B’s most legendary and often underestimated figures. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, James was signed to Motown Records in 1966 at the age of 18, going on to create various rock and funk bands over the next several decades. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 56, but left quite a legacy. From Tribeca: “Composed of rare archival performances, animations, interviews with family and collaborators, and recorded conversations with James himself, this audience-pleasing film proves the impact that this undeniable force has had on American music and popular culture.” Oh yeah that looks great!
