The 7th Castellorizo International Documentary Film Festival “Beyond Borders” will open its curtain with an inspiring opening ceremony on August 21.
The film festival will take place on the island of Castellorizo from August 21 to 28.
The opening film for this year’s event will be “Radiograph of A Family” (IDFA Awards 2020), by acclaimed director Firouzeh Khosrovani. A film with experimental cinematic form and fluid audiovisual representations, which deals with the universal core of human life: love stories separate when personal paths and individual desires no longer converge. And all this against the backdrop of the Iranian revolution of the late 1970s.
The opening of the photographic exhibition “Attic land welcomes the refugees of ΄22”, renewed especially for the needs of the Festival, organized by the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy, will take place, the same day, by Mgr Metropolitan of Symi, Tilos, Chalkis and Castellorizo Chrysostomos, who will represent the ATHP the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Castellorizo International Documentary Film Festival.
The opening ceremony will end with the musical performance of I. Saia, which will be dedicated to the Hellenism of what we call the Orient. Smyrnaica, Rebetiko and Pontic chant, they will compose a musical feast full of melodies and rhythms, reminding us that the music we have today is not only combinations of sounds and rhythms but above all memories, feelings, memories and experiences of a whole people who for centuries have turned their joy and their pain into music, wherever they are.
Finally, there will again be present this year a large number of officials from the fields of Letters and Arts, the media, the various embassies (USA, Australia, etc.) and the government. For those unable to attend, this year for the first time in the event’s history, the opening ceremony will be featured in a live stream broadcast by the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18NSCbgle6Y)
